During this time, we will focus our efforts on increasing the number of interviews recorded each month. Additionally, we will intensify our fundraising campaign to build the Texas German Dialect Endowment at UT Austin.

Hans Boas receives the Hugo-Moser Prize for Germanic Linguistics for his work on Texas German. The prize is awarded by the Institut für Deutsche Sprache ("Institute for the German Language"), a federally-funded research institute concerned with the documentation and analysis of contemporary German.

Fund-raising effort begins for the Texas German endowment. The goal is to raise half a million dollars over five years to guarantee permanent financial support for the documentation, archiving, and analysis of Texas German language and culture (similar endowments have already been put in place by the Texas-Czechs and Texas-Swedes). Donations are tax-deductable.
